Our Scripture reading today is Revelation 3:16, "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."

There was a purpose for cold water and a purpose for hot water.  The same
could not be said for lukewarm water.  This assessment can be made by the
fact of the lukewarm water being spued out of his mouth.

“Alas, this state of lukewarmness is so congenial with human nature that it is hard to fetch men from it. Cold makes us shiver, and great heat causes us pain, but a tepid bath is comfort itself. Such a temperature suits human nature. The world is always at peace with a lukewarm church, and such a church is always pleased with itself.” (Spurgeon)

May God deliver us from comfortable Christians.  May God deliver us from
a Christianity that is apathetic and has no time to serve God.  The Gospel must continue to go forth with boldness and compassion.  We are here for only a short time.  Our lives are to be spent in the service of the King!
