Today’s Scripture reading is James 1:13-15.

Verse 15, "Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

The goal of every one entering a race is the finish line.  At the finish line there is a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.  Unfortunately, it is quite the opposite scene at the finish line for the sin race.  There is no one cheering and there is regret with no hope.  In fact, at the end of the sin race there is nothing left to do because it ends in death.  Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Sin is not something to take lightly.  Sin is very powerful and is impossible to overcome in our own strength.  Our loving heavenly Father has given us all the tools to have victory over sin.  1 Corinthians 10:13, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."  There is a way to escape the finish line that sin offers.  There is a way of escape.  The power to overcome temptation is through the Lord Jesus Christ.  Claim that power today and He will enable you to say no every time!
