Our Scripture reading today is Luke 23:50-53.

Verse 50, "And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:"

As far as we know, Joseph was not a preacher.  We know for sure he was not one of the 12 apostles or disciples.  There were numerous ways that Joseph did not or could not serve the Lord, but he found a way to do something to serve Him.  He did what he could with what he had.

I found this text to be encouraging and challenging.  I may not be able to do what another Christian can do, but I can use what God has given me to serve Him.  We are are not expected to do something for God unless He has equipped us to do it.  Each of God's children are uniquely designed and equipped to serve Him and bring Him glory.  Every member of the body is needed and should be faithfully functioning within the local church.  (See 1 Corinthians 12:12-23)

2 Corinthians 10:12, "For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise."
