Our Scripture reading today is John 16:24, "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask,
and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."
The issue with many Christians not getting their prayers answered is that they are
not praying. As Dr. John Rice used to say so often, "Prayer is asking". God wants
us to ask Him for what we need. Jesus Christ instructs us is part of the model prayer
to say, "Give us..." It is not wrong to ask the Father to meet our needs. We have a
perfect Father Who is more than ready and willing to provide for His children.
Why would we get to a place of trying to do it on our own? When we do not pray,
we are telling the King of the universe that we do not need His help. Doesn't that
sound a bit foolish of us? It is time for God's children to humble themselves and
and ask the Father for their daily needs.
