Our Scripture reading this morning is Jeremiah 3:12, "Go and proclaim these words toward the
north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger
to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever."
The prophet Jeremiah was called of God to deliver His message to a rebellious people.
These people had started worshipping false gods. God used the Assyrian empire to
bring judgment upon them. We see from this verse that God is merciful and willing
to withhold His righteous anger from them if they are willing to repent of their ungodly
ways.
This very same message needs to be preached today to so many of God's people. They
are living in open rebellion and some how spinning it to be the "will of God". God's will
never contradicts God's Word. It is not the will of God for Christians to sit at home on
Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. (Any time the church is meeting)
It is not God's will for Christians
to withold from speaking about Christ or share the Gospel with others. It is not God's will for
Christians to watch vile, sensuous TV shows or movies. All of these are completely
contrary to the Bible. It IS God's will for Christians to be disciples of Jesus Christ who
are faithful to the commands of His Word. If you need to repent of something, do not
delay. God does chasten those Whom are His children.
