Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 11:5, "The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them."

John the Baptist was having some doubt as to who Jesus was.  John was sitting in prison
wondering if he had pointed people to the right person.  Our verse today is what Jesus
Christ told John's messengers to tell him.  Here is what is happening in the ministry of
Jesus Christ.  His power was on full display.  The Lord Jesus still has all power.  The Lord
Jesus has promised us power to be His witnesses.  John the Baptist is in Heaven.  He can
no longer be a physical voice for Christ.  We have a commission to follow.  We have a
responsibility to use our witness to point people to their only hope.

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
