Today's Scripture reading is Matthew 9:36-38.
Verse 36, "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."
There isn't a place where we can go where compassion isn't needed.  In addition, multitudes are everywhere.  Multitudes may consist of a few or many.  The multitudes in our text represent people who need help.  I'm sure you know people who need help.  The more we see those in the need, the more compassion will move us to do something about it.  Jude tells us (verse 22) that with compassion we will make a difference in the lives of those whom we influence.
The compassion needed today in each of our lives will come from the indwelling Holy Spirit.  As we yield to the Spirit, He will give us everything we need and this includes compassion.  Compassion will move us to write a note of encouragement.  It will move us to share the Gospel with someone.  Compassion leads to action.  Who is in your multitude today that is in great need of your kind word or deed?  Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to them today.
