Our Scripture reading today is Mark 12:29-30, "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment."
The level of our love for God is what will determine how we live the Christian life. If
we love Him deeply, it will show in the decisions we make and how we treat our
fellow man. A proper love for God will cause us to deny self and follow the leading of
His Spirit. A proper love for God will show in how we serve Him. He is more than
worthy of our life. It remains the first and greatest commandment that God's children
love Him. We are able to love the LORD because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19, "We
love him, because he first loved us."
