Our Scripture reading today is Acts 16:16-18.
Verse 16, "And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:"
The emphasis on my heart in these verses is the timing of the interruption by the demon possessed young lady.  It came just before they were going to PRAY.  This should reveal to us what the enemy knows about the power of prayer.  Satan does not want us to have any kind of a prayer life.  He especially doesn’t want us to pray faithfully and fervently.  While they are other applications for this text, this is the one that God showed me.
What kind of a prayer life do you have?  Do you pray at all?  For the Christian, prayer is both a command and privilege. 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing."  A challenge from God to pray about everything.  Before we try to figure something out, it would be wise of us to pray about it.  Before we go to the doctor, it would be wise of us to pray about it.
I want to leave you with several words that describe a time of prayer:
1. Praising
2. Confessing
3. Adoring
4. Thanksgiving
5. Asking
These are to be directed to our Father in Heaven through His Son.  Colossians 3:17, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
Take time to pray everyday!
