Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 17:5, "Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my
footsteps slip not."
God has a specific course for our lives. It may not always be what we expected
or wanted, but it is always best. The course laid out for us is perfect, but we are
not perfect. The psalmist asks for God's strength to walk without falling. Today,
we can receive such strength from God's Word. “The word of God affords us direction, but the
grace of God must enable us to follow its direction, and that grace must be obtained by
prayer.” (Horne) “What! Slip in God’s ways? Yes, the road is good, but our feet are evil, and
therefore slip, even on the King’s highway.” (Spurgeon)
We need God's strength every day in order to walk uprightly on the path of
life. There are different obstructions along the way that we cannot see. God
sees all and can guide us safely through them all. Ask Him regularly to keep
you from slipping away from your walk with Him.
