Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 5:5-6.
Verse 5, "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble."
We start off this work week with a reminder to seek humility. It is the quality that keeps
God's grace flowing into our lives. The imagery given is that as we wear clothing, we
should wear humility. When God's children are covered in humility, they are also covered
in His grace. The word, "clothed", is translated from a word that has to do with a slave
putting on an apron prior to serving someone. John 13:4, "He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself."
Young and old alike have been called to humbly serve. Look for opportunities today
to serve for the glory of God.
