Our Scripture reading today is 2 Corinthians 9:15, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift."
God is our example to follow when it comes to giving. He is the greatest giver of
all. We have been given a Saviour and salvation. These are most definitely unspeakable
gifts. Paul leaves off his writing about giving reminding the Corinthian Christians of
all that God has given them. We, too, need to be reminded of this often. It is imperative
that we give God thanks and do it often. “Our affliction we scarcely ever forget; our mercies we scarcely
ever remember! Our hearts are alive to complaint, but dead to gratitude. We have had ten thousand
mercies for one judgment, and yet our complaints to our thanksgivings have been ten thousand to one!
How is it that God endures this, and bears with us?” (Clarke)
