Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 8:10-12.
Verse 12, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more."
Although undeserving, we are able to partake of the mercy of God instead of being under His wrath.  The mercy of God is ours because His wrath was poured out on His Son, Jesus Christ while He was on the cross.  The mercy of God keeps me out of where I deserve to spend eternity. I have been pardoned through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.
The mercy that was extended to us should cause us to be willing to be merciful to others.  Far too many times we are guilty of holding onto the past faults and failures of family and friends.  It is time for us with God's help to give mercy to others and be willing to forgive.  It is not a matter of whether they deserve it or not.  We do not deserve His mercy, and yet He extends it to us.

Luke 6:36, "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."  Where would we be without His mercy?
