Our Scripture reading today is John 4:12-14.
Verse 14, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
When we drink of the living water the Lord Jesus is referring to in this passage of Scripture, we have the promise of eternal life. Eternal life is a present possession. We are not waiting for eternal life to be given to us when we die. We have already been given this most precious of gifts.
It is our responsibility as Christians to offer this same living water to the many thirsty souls we come into contact with on a daily basis. Even in this year, we have been given opportunities to offer living water. It is time we take seriously the need in our communities for the living, pure water. We are not the water source, but we are to be giving out the water every chance we have. The Lord Jesus Christ was the living water for the Samaritan woman and He IS the living water today.
