Our Scripture reading today is 1 Kings 17:11-13.
Verse 13, "And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for the son."
What seems to be a selfish request by the prophet is actually a discipleship moment. Elijah is teaching the principle of putting God first and He will always supply.  It wasn't so much about Elijah wanting to be first, but the One Who he represented being first would bring bountiful blessings to this widow and her son.
Have you made the decision to put God first in every area of your life?  Are you holding onto finances that belong to Him because you can't afford to tithe?  Not only are you living in disobedience, but you are missing out on the blessings of God.  If you continue to read this chapter, you will see the miracle that followed faith and obedience.  We trust God with our eternal home. Surely, we can trust Him to supply all our needs according to His riches.  He is faithful!
