Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 33;18-19, "Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that
fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them
alive in famine."
A proper fear of God will lead us in the way that we should go. We will surrender our
will and plans for His. We will seek to please Him above all else including self. “They who fear
God need not fear anything else; let them fix their eye of faith on him, and his eye of love will always
rest upon them.” (Spurgeon)
God has promised to be our deliverer. This tells us that the Christian life will not be
trouble and problem free. What we are promised is God's faithfulness in the midst
of those challenging times. He is more than capable of delivering those who fear
and trust Him.
