Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 11:24-26.
Verse 26, "Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward."
Egypt and the world do have much to offer. The problem is in what they offer. It looks
really good on the outside, but the problem lies in that it offers no eternal value. There is
fame and fortune in the world, but these quickly fade away and they cannot fill the void
that is in our hearts. Moses' example tells us that being ridiculed for taking a stand is
actually better than the wealth of this world. The Lord Jesus gave up the splendors of
Heaven to come and live among sinful men. He allowed Himself to be crucified as this
was the will of His Father. This made it possible for sinners like you and me to have a
relationship with God. Taking all of what He did for us into consideration, how can we
not stand for Him? Living for the Lord far outweighs anything man can offer us.
Who are you living for today?
