Today's Scripture reading is John 4:35.

"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest."

The first part of this verse was a proverb that basically said there is no need to hurry.  You can take your time because you have four months.  Jesus Christ tells His disciples not to have that philosophy because the harvest was ready now, and the disciples were the harvesters.  A white harvest is ready to be reaped.  Don't delay!

There are fields of people today that are also white and ready to be harvested.  We cannot keep allowing present day current events to distract us from the harvest.  Now is the time to be His labourers.  “Expect a present blessing; believe that you will have it; go to work to get it, and do not be satisfied unless you do have it.” (Charles Spurgeon).  There is a work for all of us to do.  It is our responsibility to labour in the harvest field until our Master comes.
