Our Scripture reading today is Acts 1:7-8.
Verse 8: "But ye shall receive power..."
The work of God must be done in the power of God.  This would seem to be an obvious statement, but it bares repeating over and over again.  The same Holy Ghost power of Acts 1 is still available in 2020.  It is not only available, it is greatly needed.  We are bombarded daily with the "wiles of the devil."  We are bombarded with "the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life."
In addition to the defensive need of the power of God, we also need it for offense.  By offense, I am referring to being a witness of the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are a witness before we can be a witness.  In order to witness for the Lord Jesus, there must be something to witness about.  Have you been born again of the Spirit of God?  One evidence of our salvation is our witness.  One could wonder if the reason why so many "Christians" never witness is because they are not truly a Christian after all.  It is something to consider.
May we claim the power of God needed today!
