Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 5:14-16.
Verse 14, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid."
When saying that we are the light of the world, Jesus is telling us that we are receivers and givers of light.  He is the provider of the light we are to give.  John 8:12, "Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."  Have you received His light?  Are you a born again Christian?
Once we turn to Jesus Christ for salvation, we are given His light and we are to let that light shine to those who are in darkness.  The light we are given will shine brighter the less we allow the world system to influence us.  The entertainment of the world will definitely have a dimming affect on our light.  Verse 15 of our text speaks of hiding our light.  A bushel or basket put over top of our light will not allow the light to shine as it should.  The light Jesus Christ gives us is plenty bright.  It is our responsibility to let it shine!!
Have a great day!
