Our Scripture reading today is 1 Kings 8:23, "And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God
like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants
that walk before thee with all their heart:"
King Solomon's prayer reminds us of Who we are bringing our petitions to when we
pray. There is no one like the Creator. God desire for us to come into His presence
with praise and thanksgiving. Prior to that, we should be striving by His grace to live
according to the Word of God. Our daily walk must be in line with the Scriptures.
Most of us know there are no other gods like the One true God. Knowing this is not
enough. There must be a continual dying to the little gods in our lives. Matthew 6:33
is always a good reminder - "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you." We must guard against the things being
our god. They will never satisfy. I'm thankful that God is more than capable of taking
care of us and He is worthy of our worship!
