Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

This verse has been an anchor for me and I am sure for you at various times in your
Christian life. A refuge is a shelter from some type of storm or danger. Life is
filled with various storms that God allows in our life. He also promises to be present
in our lives.  “The secret of the confidence is the consciousness of the nearness of God.” (Morgan)

God is the shelter we need in times of danger. God is the strength we need
when we are weak (daily). “We may be as timid by nature as the coneys, but God is our refuge; we are
as weak by nature as bruised reeds, but God is our strength.” (Spurgeon) He is the refuge in the time of storm.
