Our Scripture reading today is Colossians 3:12-15.

Verse 15, "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

I think we can safely say that the fear of death has been on the rise over the last 12 months.  So much so that people have completely changed the way they live.  Some of the changes are definitely for the good.  For example, washing your hands more times a day than you used to is a good thing.  We were taught very young to cover our mouth when coughing or sneezing.  The reminder in recent days has been most helpful.  Unfortunately, the fear of death has caused many more problems than benefits and it is continuing to rule in the hearts of even those who are born again believers.

The challenge we are given in the first part of verse 15 is to let God's peace rule in our hearts.  The word, "rule" is translated from a Greek word that means to umpire or to control.  Think about that for a moment.  Millions and millions of people are allowing the fear driven media to rule their hearts and not the peace of God.  It all comes down to a choice.  Who or what are we going to allow to "rule" our hearts (mind, will and emotion)?  It is TIME to let God's peace rule your heart my brother or sister in Christ.

Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
