Our Scripture reading today is Jonah 3:5, "So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and
put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them."
Yes, it is still possible for the most pagan of people to turn from paganism to faith in
Jesus Christ. Nineveh was the worst of the worst. The preaching of God's Word
brought conviction upon their hearts in such a way that they humbled themselves and
repented of their sin.
What is needed in 2025 is the continual teaching and preaching of the Word of God. Our
words do not have the life changing power that God's Word has. We need to hear the
Word of God on a regular. We need to read the Bible every day. We need to share the
Word of God at every chance we get. God's Word brings about change in people's lives.
Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
