Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 3:1-4.
Verse 4, "That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I."
At a very early age, Samuel responded to the calling of the LORD. We are told later in the chapter that he did not know the LORD yet because the word of the LORD was not yet revealed to him. Think about it with me. Samuel had no Bible. God revealed Himself to Samuel and Samuel answered the call. I am most captivated by verse 19, "And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground." Samuel was focused on every word that the LORD delivered to him.
I wonder if we have that same hunger for the Word of God? I wonder if Christians today in some ways have taken for granted the fully revealed Scriptures that we hold in our hands? My challenge to each of us is that we strive to obey the Word of God in every area of our lives and in addition, we pay close attention when reading or hearing the Word of God taught and preached. God is definitely speaking in 2021. Are we diligently listening?
