Our Scripture reading today is Luke 12:20-21, "But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
We find in today's reading that it is not wrong to be rich and to even have that as a goal
in life. The riches spoken of here that are wise are eternal riches. Unfortunately, too many
of God's children are controlled by the riches of this world. They will disobey clear
commands in the Word of God for the sake of having more money. We are not to live this
way once we become a child of God.
It is our privilege and responsibility to find ways to be rich toward God. How can we
serve Him even more than we are now? Every believer should be investing in the work
of the Lord through missions. Do you regularly give of your finances so the lost in
Canada and around the world will hear the Gospel? Ask the Father to show you ways to
be rich in eternal goods. He will show you the ways.
