Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 9:36-38.

Verse 36, "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."

Many times the key to having compassion is our vision.  What are we looking at from
day to day?  What do we fix our attention on?  The Lord Jesus saw the great group of
people.  It can refer to the actual physical seeing of them, but I think it goes deeper
than that.  By seeing them, He saw individuals that needed help.  We live in a world
filled with people who need help.  God has given us the ability by His Spirit to see
individuals and we can meet their need.  Not much effort is needed to see the need.  The
effort is in helping those needy people that come across our path.  We must rely on the
Lord for the right vision and the means to meet the need.  He always comes through!
