Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 20:26-28.
Verse 28, "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
When Jesus Christ came down into this world, He came to serve; not to be served.  The example of our Saviour, Jesus Christ is one we should seek to emulate in many settings.  The first place we should see this attitude is in our homes.  Parents should serve children and children should serve parents.  Siblings should look for ways to serve one another.  Husbands should serve wives and wives should serve husbands.  We pray that it comes from a heart of compassion and not a sense of duty.  Another opportunity to be like Jesus and serve others is in the church.  Too many times, we have the attitude of what can the church do for me or what can the church provide my family.  In reality, we should be seeking for every way possible we can to serve the Lord in His church.
We could add the workplace and the school we attend to the list of places where we should seek to be serving others.  It is an overall attitude of humility and usefulness that are greatly needed in order for others to see Jesus Christ in us.  Go out of your way to serve someone today!
