Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 119:94, "I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts."
I just realized that I looked ahead yesterday in the devotional book so I will
look back one day today. God always has a better plan than mine.
This verse in Psalm 119 reminded me of the promise we have in the New
Testament that if we ask, seek and knock we will have whatever is needed.
Here the psalmist is seeking to obey the Word of God. He makes it clear Who
he belongs to and Who can save him. “We are the Lord’s by creation, election, redemption,
surrender, and acceptance; and hence our firm hope and assured belief that he will save us.
A man will surely save his own child: Lord, save me.” (Spurgeon)
God wants us to know Him in a greater way. He has provided us with the only
source of knowledge - the Word of God. The more we read it, meditate on it,
hear it preached, and memorize it, the more we will know about God. This will
give us greater assurance that we are His and He is ours.
