Our Scripture reading today is Luke 8:16, "No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light."

When you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you were made alive spiritually and you were given a light.  The light you were given was meant to be displayed in such a way that people would not see you, but would see you light.  The light is equal to the truth.  As believers, we are supposed to be displaying the truth and not hiding it.  Do people know the truth about you?  Do the people you work with know that you are a Christian?

God lightened our lamp so it would be visible to others who need the same light.  When we hide the light, we are saying we are ashamed of our Saviour.  You may not verbalize that, but you are showing it when you hide your light.  We shine our light as we invite others to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and invite to the church where others believers are and the Gospel is preached.

"This little light of mine. I'm going to let it shine.  This little light of mine.  I'm going to let it shine...let it shine...let it shine.  Hide it under a bushel...NO!  I'm going to let it shine.  Hide it under a bushel...NO!  I'm going to let it shine..let it shine...let it shine."
