Our Scripture reading today is 1 Samuel 17:45-47.

Verse 47, "And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands."

The text of Scripture we are reading this morning tells us about the most uneven battle in all history.  A trained soldier named Goliath (over 3 meters tall) is going to fight a young shepherd boy named David.  In fact, this event is alluded to time and time again when there is a big upset in a sporting event.  On paper, Goliath should not needed to spend much time defeating David.  Goliath had the credentials and the pedigree, but David had Someone!

This particular battle belonged to the LORD and He gave David the upset victory that day over the giant.  I would like to encourage you this morning.  EVERY battle you will face or might even be facing today, belongs to the LORD.  Our all mighty God is more than capable of providing us with the victory.  The faith of David can be seen in verse 46, "This day will the LORD deliver thee..."  Faith is still where the victory will be found.  God is STILL able!
