Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 16:18, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Jesus Christ made it clear to Peter and those who were near that the church is
built on and by HIM. This applied to the 1st century church and it applies to
the church in 2025. There is no power in us to build a church. We are to
the Word of God's instructions on following Christ and He will do the building.
There is a promise found in our text today. Nothing can prevail against a church
that is built by Jesus Christ. We call this a biblical church. Satan and his crew
are no match for a church that is founded on the Rock! We can rest in this truth.
Be thankful for the local church that you are attending. If you are not a member,
why not? Be involved in the local church. Find a place to serve. If it is biblical,
it belongs to the Lord and we are to be faithful stewards.
