Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 142:4-7.
Verse 5, "I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living."
The first person we should turn to in time of need is the One Who is always available.  How many times have we resorted last to the LORD instead of first?  He is more than ready to hear what we have to say.  Psalm 3:4, "I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah."  Jeremiah 33:3, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
What would cause us to delay our coming to the LORD?  The simple, yet difficult to overcome answer, is PRIDE.  We can figure it out.  We can make it happen.  Even if no one else is around me, I can work my way out of it.  As I type this it seems so foolish that a chid of God would ever think like this.  Yet, we are all guilty of self-dependence.  It would do us all some good to go to God and reiterate from our heart that He is our refuge and portion.  God already knows it, but tell Him how much you need Him.  Get back to leaning on His everlasting arms!
