Today’s Scripture reading is Luke 4:28-31.

Verse 29 - "And rose up, and thrust him out of the city,"

The people listening to Jesus in this passage could definitely hear what He was saying, but were unwillingly to accept what He was saying.  They were unwilling to repent and believe.  They expressed their disbelief in quite the drastic manner.  While this may not be our response to God's leading in our lives, we too, have at times rejected His Word.  Our way is more subtle but just as wrong.  How many days a week does our Bible stay closed?  How many times do we read something in His Word or hear it preached, but make no changes?  This is our way of carrying Jesus out of the city.

This is a good time to remind us of our theme verse for 2020 - "Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:7
