Our Scripture reading today is Haggai 2:19, "Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you."
We see in other passages that the seed is the Word of God.  Luke 8:11, "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God."  The harvest will not come when the seed is in the barn.  After the farmer gets the seed into the ground, he then must wait on the miraculous working of God.  God will not bless seed that is in the barn.  This applies to both the farmer and the follower of Jesus Christ.
While the harvest is not our responsibility, it is the duty of every follower of Jesus Christ to spread the Gospel every where we go.  If we consider ourselves to be a follower of Jesus Christ, but are not doing anything to spread the Gospel, we are disobeying the Word of God.  Mark 1:17, "And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men."  In other words, a follower of Jesus Christ will get the Seed out of his or her pocket and give it to others.  This is something we all need to evaluate from time to time.  Are we faitfhully sharing the Gospel?
