Our Scripture reading today is Luke 22:59-62.

Verse 62, "And Peter went out, and wept bitterly."

Peter had walked with Jesus for 3 years.  He had seen countless miracles and heard amazing sermons.  His own mother in law had been healed by the power of Jesus Christ.  All of these blessings did not seem to matter in the moment we read about today.  This moment, Peter gave in to the world, the flesh and the devil.  How quickly this foretold moment came upon Peter and he denied knowing the Saviour.

How many years have we seen the power of God on display in our lives?  How many years has God provided all of our needs according to His riches in glory?  How many days have we been loaded with His benefits?  Like Peter, we no reason to put God on trial.  God has proven Himself faithful over and over again.  Also, like Peter, there have been moments in our lives that came on quickly where we were challenged as to whether or not we would boldly claim His name or deny it.  Today, is the day to lovingly speak up for God.  We ought to be his humble mouthpiece.  I would much rather weep tears of joy than bitter ones.
