Our Scripture reading today is Luke 19:41-42.

Verse 41, "And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,"

What would cause the Saviour to weep over Jerusalem?  There is no doubt that He loved the people, but He also knew they were going to reject Him as the Messiah.  "The spiritual blindness of the rulers and people was such that they did not discern the meaning of the visitation. The result was inevitable. There could be no escape from the destruction." (Morgan)

It would do us good to pray for the city we live in to turn to Christ and be saved.  We should pray for the people on our street to humble themselves and call on the Lord Jesus for salvation.  As we drive or ride through other cities, we can take time to pray for the people living in that city.  I know I need to ask God for more tears for those who are walking in darkness and headed for a Christ less eternity.

Psalm 126:6, "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."
