Our Scripture reading today is Luke 14:28-30.

Verse 28, "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?"

What is the cost for someone to have eternal life in Heaven?  What is the cost to have all of our sins forgiven?  There is no dollar amount that can be placed on our salvation.  The cost was very high and holy.  The Son of God willingly laid down His life to pay the cost that sinners might be redeemed.  His pure, blood was shed in order to pay the death penalty that came as a result of our sin.

What is the cost for someone to be a follower or disciple of Jesus Christ?  What is the cost to be identified with the Son of God?  It is most important that we read verses 26-27 of this same chapter.  There were many people who surrounded Jesus, but only 12 were disciples.  Ten of the twelve disciples would end up giving their lives as martyrs.  This was what it cost them to be identified with Jesus Christ.  Whether or not we will be in that position or not is yet to be seen.  What we do know is far too many professing Christians are still undercover.  It could be the need for labourers is at its greatest point and yet there are so few willing to pay any price.  There are so few willing to give any time during the week to serve their Saviour.  There are so few who will ever deliver the truth of the Gospel.  Whatever the cost is to us, it is worth it!  We are privileged to be able to represent our King.  Now is the time to not only count the cost, but surrender our time, talent and treasure to the One Who gave it all that we might have eternal life.

Anchor Baptist Church needs men and women to surrender to being a disciple of Jesus Christ!  Will you surrender?
