Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:43-45.
Verse 45, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."
The heart of man must be protected and filled with the Word of God. It is very important that we are storing good treasure in our heart. It will be revealed whether we are storing evil or good treasure when we open our mouth. Words are very powerful and should be guarded at all cost. Guarded words come from a guarded heart.
As our love for God increases, so will our good treasure. A man or woman who love God will be filled with words of encouragement and edification. Words that build up and not tear down. Proverbs 25:11, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." The stronger our walk with God becomes, the more our heart will be filled with good treasure. This treasure is not for our own good, but for the benefit of others and the glory of God.
