Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 16:18-19.
Verse 18, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
There is an obvious emphasis made in this verse with regards to the end result of pride.  It is revealed by a haughty spirit and it precedes destruction.  A haughty spirit refers to someone who sees themselves as being superior than others.  “The proverb gives the strong impression of saying the same thing twice…In this way its truth is underscored and clarified; the proud are defined more precisely as the haughty in spirit.” (Waltke)
Every relationship we have is strengthened by humility.  Humility brings life.  Humility brings and keeps things together.  Humility is blessed by the Lord.  Matthew 23:12, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."  Make the decision today to ask God's Spirit to enable you to be humble in your home, at school, at work and in every other place you have a relationship.  Our humility will allow us a bigger platform to speak of Jesus Christ.  Philippians 2:8, "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto  death, even the death of the cross."
