Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 42:8, "Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life."
We are promised 24-hour help and encouragement from the LORD. During the day and throughout the night, God is faithfully providing all we need. While we are clearly insufficient, God is the all sufficient One. “Whatever depths there are in God, they appeal to corresponding depths in us. And whatever the depths of our sorrow, desire, or necessity, there are correspondences in God from which full supplies may be obtained.” (Meyer)
Taking all of this into consideration, our prayer should always be directed toward the One Who can meet every need. Don't make God your last resort. He should be your first contact.
