Good LORD'S Day Morning!

Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 20:11, "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

A fitting verse for us to consider on this first day of week.  The word, sabbath, means
rest.  We are no longer following the Jewish Sabbath day for worship.  Jesus Christ
is Lord of the Sabbath.  A new covenant and day of worship were established when
Jesus Christ rose again on the first day of the week, Sunday.  Followers of Jesus Christ
have been gathering on Sunday since the first century.  Sadly over the years, Sunday
has become less and less important even by those who claim the name of Christ.  Work,
sports, family time, birthday parties, and many other events have become more important than
assembling together with the church.

Everyone needs time of rest to come apart and get refreshed.  If we do not come apart,
we will come aparet.

Pastor
