Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 2:3, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;"
God made provision for all sinners to escape the penalty of sin. He allowed His Son,
Jesus Christ, to be the sufficient sacrifice for all mankind. As the writer of Hebrews
put it, He is the only "escape" plan. This is not the primary application as we know that
Hebrews was written to Christians. The admonition was and is for Christians to avoid
neglecting their salvation. We must stay connected to the Vine in order to bring forth
fruit for the glory of God.
We are responsible to guard the great salvation that God has graciously given to us.
Last night, we mentioned three activities that should be a part of every day of our lives -
prayer, Bible reading, and thanksgiving. A daily dose of these will help to invest and
protect the gift of salvation.
