Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 22:27, "For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin:
wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious."

The context of this portion of God's Word is how He will care for the poor. This man
is using his outer garment as some sort of collateral. It is obvious he does not have
much of this world's goods. God is listening for his cry and is more than willing to
take care of the need.

It is important that we follow the lead of our Father and be listening for the call of
those in need. Proverbs 21:13, "Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard." We cannot help everyone, but we
ought to help those God enables us to help. He will lead us to those in need.
