Our Scripture reading today is John 1:13, "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God."
The natural and spiritual birth were both provided to us by God. We would not be
walking the face of His Earth without Him. John writes about our spiritual birth.
It, too, came from God. When we received by faith God's gift of eternal life, we were
completely changed from the inside out. “The man is like a watch which has a new mainspring, not
a mere face and hands repaired, but new inward machinery, with freshly adjusted works, which act to
a different time and tune; and whereas he went wrong before, now he goes right, because he is
right within.” (Spurgeon)
God desires that His family follow His perfect will for their life. As our heavenly
Father, He has a far better plan for me than I do. Yielding to Him is the best
decision you and I can make. The Bible message last night here at youth conference
is one that every Christian should apply to their lives. It was based mainly from
Romans 12:1 and the emphasis was on surrendering our lives to God because of
the mercy He has extended to us. Why wouldn't we surrender considering what it
cost God to extend mercy to us? The preacher reminded us of Calvary. God saved
us and it should be normal to live a surrendered life for His glory.
