Our Scripture reading today is Romans 16:17-18.
Verse 17, "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and and avoid them."
The admonition from the Apostle Paul is quite strong.  He would definitely not be a part of today's ecumenical movement.  It is not wise, nor is it biblical to "hold hands" with those who oppose the doctrine of the Word of God.  By holding hands, I am referring to teaming up with them to do anything in the community.  We will not be a part of such actions as a church.  The language cannot be any clearer - "avoid them".  They need our prayers, but we must not be in allegiance with them at all.  Don't attend any of their meetings no matter what the topic is and even if it sounds biblical.  Paul is urging the Roman Christians to follow his counsel.  I am urging you to listen to the Spirit's counsel as you read this verse and verse eighteen one more time.  "Mark them...AVOID them..."
