Our Scripture reading today is Ezekiel 18:30, "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel,
every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all
your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin."
All Scripture is profitable for every generation. While this was written to a specific
people group, there is plenty of application for every one who reads it. We have
a promise at the end of the verse. It is not a positive promise, but we should
take notice of it. Our sinful life will eventually lead to ruin. We can live in sin in
secret for only so long until it ruins our lives. Usually part of this ruin is an
exposure to others that thought we were living for the Lord. Sadly, this is the case
for too many believers.
Thankfully, the prophet Ezekiel gives a solution as well. Repentance from our
sinful ways will prevent a ruined life. It will also honour our heavenly Father
and give greater power to our witness. God's Spirit will work mightily through
a clean vessel. Examine your heart today and confess and forsake any sin!
