Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 1:6-8.
Verse 6 - "Being confident...that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it..."
The word, confident, means to be persuaded; to believe in; to have faith.  This confidence that Paul speaks of is needed in our everyday life.  What is most important is who we are placing this confidence in.  God has given each of us different examples in our lives of men and women who have grown more in grace.  They can and do help us in the Christian life.  However, the confidence we read about is to be reserved for our Lord Jesus Christ.  Mankind can and will fail us.  The Lord Jesus Christ never goes back on a promise.  He always fulfills His Word.  He knows exactly what we need and don't need.  Our confidence can be placed in Him with no reservation.
