Our Scripture reading today is 2 Chronicles 15:8, "And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD."

The example of King Asa is one that needs to be followed time and time again.  He had
heard the message of the LORD from Azariah and decided there needed to be some
changes.  First, he put away the idols that were causing all the trouble.  Next, he puts the
emphasis back on the altar of the LORD.  Repentance led to a revival.

We need to follow these same steps today.  What idols are in our life that need to be put
away?  It is impossible to worship and serve the LORD faithfully while holding onto
idols.  An idol is anyone or anything that has more of a priority in our life than God.  Once
the idols are put away, we will be able to renew the altars.  As stated in recent days, we
must be separated from the world and unto God.  Take the challenge today and clean out
any and all idols.  It will require boldness and courage.  God will help you!
