Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 56:1-3.

Verse 1, "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."

It does not take long to come to the realization that God can be trusted to provide deliverance in the midst of our fears.  God does not bring fear into the life of His children.  In fact, He provides the antithesis of fear.  2 Timothy 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."  We are admonished in Proverbs 3:5 to, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart..."  The child of God need not fear or worry about anything.

Fear comes when we place our confidence in self, other people, or even circumstances.  David shows us by example what we should do when we start to fear.  It is always best to place our confidence in the One Who is all powerful and all knowing.  The prophet Isaiah provides some very helpful counsel in chapter 26 and verse 3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."  Our God is completely trustworthy and will always lead us from fear to perfect peace.
